Boat trip in Cagliari

I went on an excursion with Alessio in August in Cagliari. I highly recommend trying this experience if you are in the area. It was magical, the places we visited were spectacular, and Alessio is knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and very kind! We had a wonderful morning! We will definitely do it again!

We set off from the port of Cagliari on a hot July day, accompanied by a pleasant mistral breeze as we headed towards Sella del Diavolo, the promontory overlooking the sea that divides the Gulf of Angels in two. As soon as we passed the lighthouse, a pair of dolphins decided to play in the wake of the dinghy, as if to greet us and welcome us to Sardinia, an incredible and unexpected thrill. We continued quickly along the coast, enjoying the crystal clear water flowing under the keel until we reached our first stop, Calamosca, where we dived into a sea of colors that are difficult to describe in words. We put on our snorkeling masks and a wonderful underwater world opened up before us, with schools of small fish swimming around us as we skirted the colorful rocks of the small sheltered cove.
We climb back on board the dinghy to dry off and set off again for Cala Fighera, a stop we were particularly keen on because it had been recommended to us by some local friends, and I must say that it was a sight far beyond our expectations. We anchor a short distance from this corner of paradise, which is difficult to reach without a dinghy, and head back into the water. Alessio is an attentive and meticulous guide. We lost track of time a little, and if we want to enjoy the sunset from the most beautiful spot on the Sella del Diavolo, we have to get back on board and set sail for our next stop, a dip in the longest beach in southern Sardinia, the pride of the people of Cagliari.
We take our last dip in front of Marina Piccola, at the beginning of Poetto beach, then climb back on board and set off for Cala Bernat to enjoy a well-deserved aperitif at sunset.
The sun slowly sets, setting the cliffs of the Sella ablaze with new colors. We pull up and are served a delicious aperitif of typical Sardinian cold cuts and cheeses with an inevitable glass of local sparkling wine. As we toast the beginning of our vacation, Alessio tells us the legend of how the Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle) was created.
What more can we say except a huge thank you to Alessio and KarelDreamSea for giving us a fantastic experience that will not be a one-off because we will be back again next year.

A Slice of Mediterranean Paradise: Cagliari Bay Cruise

The crew's knowledge of local history added depth to the experience, sharing fascinating stories about the ancient watchtowers and the strategic importance of Cagliari's coastline throughout history. We even had the privilege of spotting dolphins playing in the boat's wake!

Spend a day at the beach as seen from the sea

A wonderful experience. Alessio was excellent, very professional and attentive to everyone's needs. Excellent customer service both during the booking process and upon arrival at the pier. There were 11 of us and we were comfortable on the boat, which is equipped with cushions in different areas. Masks for viewing the seabed and snorkels were also provided, and the stops were long and well distributed. The price was more than fair. Highly recommended.

Every time we return to Sardinia, when we are approaching Cagliari airport, we fly low over the Gulf of Angels and are always entranced by that white, shining limestone promontory plunging into the crystal-clear sea of the gulf.
We have always made a quick stop in the capital, but this time, with a little more time available, we finally decide to see this promontory from the sea.
This is how we meet Alessio, who accompanies us on a discovery of the sea around the promontory of Sant'Elia and the famous Devil's Saddle.
Between stories, legends, a dip in the sea, and a chat, the evening slips by, lulled by a unique sea. The lights dim and the noises fade into a beautiful sunset. A flock of pink flamingos flies noisily overhead as it shuttles between the two lagoons surrounding the city. We return with the freshness of the sunset and our hearts full of beauty.
could this be what they call 'mal di Sardegna' (Sardinian sickness)?
A huge thank you to Kareldreamsea for their expertise and professionalism. We can't wait to repeat this wonderful experience.

Spectacular

It was wonderful. An experience I recommend to everyone! It's a way of experiencing Cagliari from a different perspective, one I had never experienced before. Thank you Alessio, a great host who makes you feel at home, part of the family!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) (from TripAdvisor)

I have known Alessio for quite some time. I know him as a talented violinist, but outside of this context, we have never socialized.
We meet by chance at lunch in a restaurant on the promenade in front of the small port of Su Siccu, at the foot of the steps leading to the Basilica of Bonaria.
I immediately notice his white T-shirt with the KarelDreamSea logo and spontaneously ask him why he is wearing a boat trip sponsorship shirt.
He starts talking to me, smiling, about this new adventure, his new boat, and how much fun he was having taking people to discover Cagliari from a different perspective.
He intrigued me, and so, between one appetizer and another, he invited me to go with my whole family on a tour of the Sella del Diavolo that same afternoon.

"I bet even you, a true Cagliari native, have never seen it from this perspective," he adds with a chuckle.
"Do you know Cala Bernat? And the Grotta dei Colombi? And the Piscine di Gasole? No, right?"
No, I admit my ignorance: even though I was born and raised in Cagliari, for me, the Devil's Saddle has always been Calamosca, the cove where La Pailotte now stands, and—when I really wanted to be transgressive—Cala Fighera, which has always been considered a nudist beach.
He had already convinced me right away, but the more he talked, the more curious I became.
So, after the inevitable coffee, we set off together towards the marina where the boat is moored — just a five-minute walk — and another two minutes to cast off and set sail for the Sella.

A light mistral breeze cools a hot summer day as the boat speeds towards its first stop, the Piscine di Gasole.
As we sail past the promontory, I reflect on Alessio's words from earlier. A different perspective, yes, I do feel like a tourist in my own home.
Wonderful coves that are every bit as beautiful as the more famous ones in southern Sardinia, ten minutes from where I have always lived; an enchanting sea in which I have dived thousands of times and yet, seen from here, it seems new.

The Gasole Pools are a small, unspoiled cove, tucked away in a spot that cannot be seen from land—which is why I didn't know about it.
The small pebble beach, just a few strokes away, is deserted: a clear sign that I'm not the only one unaware of the little paradises along this stretch of coastline.
After a refreshing dip, we set off again for another destination unknown to me: the Grotta dei Colombi. I had actually heard of it, but had never been able to visit it because, without a boat, it can only be reached by swimming.
Here, the cliff is truly sheer, and we anchor a little way off for another dip.

Back on the boat to dry off, Alessio tells us some anecdotes and legends about the Sella, and perhaps we let ourselves be lulled a little too much by the waves, while the children play with strange colorful floating sausages that Alessio has pulled out from who knows where.

"Are you hungry? How about we go for one last swim near Capo Sant'Elia and then enjoy the sunset at the rock? In my opinion, it's the best spot," suggests Alessio.
He hasn't even finished his sentence and we're already sailing. In this respect, he hasn't changed: always thinking about a thousand things and doing ten at the same time.

Oh my goodness, this is turning into more of an epic poem than a review, but there are so many things to tell that I don't feel like cutting anything out.
Once we've passed the cape, we anchor one last time, with the Scoglio di Sant'Elia rock between us and the setting sun. I take the opportunity for one last dip and a swim, while the others stay on board to chat.
I am still blissfully soaking when I distinctly hear a familiar melody. A little confused, I focus: on the bow of the boat I see Ale, dressed elegantly, complete with jacket and hat, playing the violin, with the others listening enraptured.

I stay in the water to enjoy the end of the song before climbing back out. Partly so as not to break the spell, and partly because... when will I ever get to hear a concert while immersed in water again?
I climb back on board between songs, almost on tiptoe, and enjoy the rest of the sunset with a plate of cold cuts and a glass of Vermentino wine.
Unfortunately, this adventure is coming to an end. We wait for the sun to set completely before leaving, welcomed back by the thousand lights of the city and the music of Parco Nervi.

I understand that this review may seem extremely biased, but I hope everyone can have a similar experience to realize how real it is.

A wonderful experience. We were delighted with the scenery and the crew. Excellent aperitif. Worth repeating in the morning and not jus
t sunset.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) (from TripAdvisor)

I have always observed the Sella del Diavolo from Poetto beach, and it has always fascinated me: it is one of the most recognizable symbols of Cagliari. For those arriving by plane, the limestone promontory of the Sella and Colle di Sant'Elia are the first image of the city, a true natural gem.
Despite the changes it has undergone over time, the area remains a point of reference for the people of Cagliari and the many visitors who walk its paths, offering unique views and immersion in the scents and colors of the Mediterranean scrub. Here you can discover a surprising biodiversity, rare in an urban context.
Experiencing the Sella del Diavolo from the sea was a discovery that made me appreciate the place even more. Striking white cliffs visible only from the coast, hidden coves, caves, and crystal-clear emerald waters reveal schools of fish and extensive Posidonia oceanica meadows.
A dip with a mask and fins allows you to explore this underwater world up close: starfish, sea urchins, white seabream, salema porgy, and striped seabream find refuge among the leaves of this precious plant endemic to the Mediterranean.
An experience I recommend to anyone who loves the sea!

An incredible trip!

It was an incredible excursion. Alessio guided us on a journey of discovery to the hidden corners behind the Sella del Diavolo. He was always attentive to our needs. He enriched the trip with anecdotes and interesting details about the area and its origins. The sea was fabulous, crystal clear, with iridescent colors. Each bay has its own unique features. We stayed longer than planned and he offered us drinks and snacks that weren't part of the itinerary. Needless to say, we immediately booked the Serenade with Sunset Aperitif and can't wait for the next excursion. Highly recommended to everyone! 7 stars.
